What is an emulsion tank?

A specialised storage unit for emulsified materials such as asphalt emulsions used in road construction and maintenance. A good tank keeps the emulsion at the right temperature and consistency so it stays workable until it's needed.

1

Insulation

Holds the emulsion at its target temperature, stopping it cooling too quickly and keeping consistency even.

2

Gentle agitation

Slow, steady mixing keeps the emulsion uniform. Aggressive mixing is avoided because it can break the emulsion.

3

Vertical design

A tall tank exposes less surface to air, which reduces the chance of a skin forming on top.

4

Heating systems

Efficient heating, such as electric blanket heaters, warms the tank evenly and helps prevent material build-up.
